Creativity block

When I am blocked creatively I have the tendency to panic. I feel bereft if I don't make jewelry - it feels like my connection to my inner source of strength and power starts to die. What I learnt to do in this state of spiritual emergency is what I call channelling. I unblock through lots of art channelling - one of the most effective ways is to partake in a different form of creativity for a while.
On Mondays I do a Mandala work shop (Monday Mandala Madness) with two beautiful women and here's what I created yesterday...

It's not actually finished yet and my beautiful roses dripped water on it but creativity is not about perfection!

I made this necklace for a very special friend.
She reminds me of a wild rose: magnificent, delicate and untamed.

I made this piece with fine Antique Bar Linked Chain to emulate her delicate character. Combined with the brilliance of Jet Swarovski Crystals and Figure Eight Link Chain for that Vintage appeal.
The The Wild Rose emerged from a sacred place and manifested in the appearance of the combination of these materials.
This came straight from the tenderness of my heart and has special meaning to me....

I adore the thought of day dreaming. Some say it's a waste of time - I say it's part of art. I like to retreat to that quiet arena that allows me amplitude and fervour.

Requiem For a Dream

The Artist Way changed my life! I can't recommend this book enough.

I don't know how many times I caught myself saying "I'm not creative...I'm not an artist.." Only to find out how inaccurate that statement is. I am extraordinarily creative! In fact, I have discovered, everyone is.
The issue for me was the unblocking of my inner artist - "discovering and recovering my creative self".
I now know that the soul is joined to the heart, and in the heart creativity and emotion bleed together to form bliss. What is life without heart? Without love and life there is no meaning. For me, and I can only speak for me because everyone has the right to their own experience, without creativity there is no light in my life.
I went from person to person searching for this truth only to become disappointed and defeated again and again when I couldn't find my authentic self. I searched in every geographical place I could locate - including the ones in my mind. The sad thing was all I had to do was stand still, pick up some tools, and allow grace to move gently within my heart.

I now "use the tools of creative recovery" on a daily basis, as well as my own spiritual practices. Morning pages and Artist Dates are an absolute in my life. I find the freedom incredible!
